What Autumn Teaches Us About Writing Poetry: a Self-Guided Poetry Workshop
30.00 USD
Thank you for your purchase!
Happy writing!
From its ephemerality and detail
to its witchcraft and nostalgia, autumn teaches us how to write
better poems and approach them for revision.
Why
autumn? We poets write about fall so much, it’s easy to chain
ourselves to clichés. Which makes it the perfect subject with which
to practice expanding our language and imagery.
• 5 Lessons
• 7 Prompts
• 2 Writing/Editing Exercises
• Revision Techniques
• Links to and Appendix of Poems for Reference
Purchase once, and it's yours to
return to again and again when you need a little poetic (or autumnal)
inspiration.
(For
reference, this self-guided workshop is the equivalent of a 5-week
in-person workshop at about 2 hours per class.)
Why should I purchase a
self-guided poetry workshop from you?
I
have a BA in English Writing & Rhetoric (Creative Writing
concentration) from St. Edward’s University and continue to hone my
craft by regularly participating in writing classes and workshops. A
few of the writers/instructors I’ve had the honor of learning from
and working with include Megan Falley, Carrie Fountain, Melissa
Sussens, Nikki Allen, Sonya Lara, Amy Kay, and Chrissy Williams.
I’ve
self-published four poetry collections and have over 80 publications
in literary journals. I also won 1st place in the League of MN Poets’
2022 John Calvin Rezmerski Memorial Grand Prize, received 2nd place
in The Stone Gathering Award for 2023 via NFSPS, am a two-time Top 50
Finalist in the Tucson Festival of Books Literary Awards, and have
been a finalist, semifinalist, or honorable mention for various other
rewards.
I
currently volunteer as an editorial associate with Yellow Arrow
Publishing and as a poetry reader for Black Fox Literary Magazine.
All
of this experience has culminated into a garden of knowledge, tips,
and tricks I want to pluck and bouquet for you. I want to give you
seed packets of writing tools and revision techniques to start your
own garden. I want to give you the sun and water to continue your
growth as a writer. My hope is that you take one thing away from this
workshop to help you do that, but I’m confident you’ll walk away
with so much more.
I really want to take your self-guided workshop, but I can’t afford it at $30.
I
have set the price to reflect the knowledge and mental/physical work
of creating this workshop while keeping affordability in mind. For
reference, this self-guided workshop is the equivalent of a 5-week
in-person workshop at about 2 hours per class.
That
said, I want this workshop to be accessible to everyone. If you want
to purchase my workshop and truly cannot afford it at $30, I am happy
to offer it at a price that works for you. Please email me at
hello@kaitquinn.com, and we’ll figure something out!
Alternatively,
I plan to offer occasional discounts in the future, so you can always
